  1. Kivi QWK history...
  2.

  5.  + Kivi saves the read/reply status of messages whenever you quit
  6.    (or change work directory). If you have sorted the messages,
  7.    index files have to be written also to ensure that right messages
  8.    are marked as read/replied when you start Kivi again. Therefore
  9.    saving message status is a bit slower if you have sorted
  10.    messages. Save read status can be turned off from General
  11.    dialog.
  12.  + PERSONAL.NDX is supported. All the messages that are addressed
  13.    to you are placed in a special conference "Personal", if this
  14.    file is present. You can reply in this conference and the
  15.    replies will go to correct conferences, but you can't write
  16.    new messages there, because it is not actual conference in
  17.    the BBS.
  18.  + Kivi supports FidoNet mail. When replying, or writing new
  19.    messages you can enter the FidoNet address in the Message
  20.    Header dialog to Address-field. Internet users can use
  21.    this same field if they want to send e-mail to someone
  22.    whose address is too long to fit in the To-field.
  23.  + Presets can be written for Address-field in the same
  24.    manner as for To-field. The file name have to be
  25.    BBS_ID.ADR (where BBS_ID is the BBS's id) or KIVI.ADR.
  26.    An example file is included with the packet. This feature
  27.    needs AES >= 3.40 (Falcon, MultiTOS).
  28.  + Translation can be chosen with pulldown menu under
  29.    AES >= 3.40.
  30.  + Kivi can now merge replies if you unpack a reply packet and
  31.    there are old replies in your reply directory.
  32.  + Search string's short-cut is changed to <control>-F to accomodate
  33.    to Atari style guide. Also its menu name is changed to "Find string".
  34.  + Find again added. Continues the search with the same parameters
  35.    as in last search.
  36.  + Bulletin window stays open until you select nothing to view or
  37.    close the window. This way you don't have to always open bulletin
  38.    window again if there are multiple bulletins in packet.
  39.  + A new menu entry, Create Index files, added. Some BBSs don't include
  40.    index files (or they might be corrupted!), so use this to create
  41.    (or recreate) them. Index files can be created for messages or
  42.    to your replies or for both.
  43.  + Your reply packets can be packed to include only .MSG file. Some users
  44.    have told me about crappy QWK-doors that do not work with reply packets
  45.    that have .NDX file. This option is configurable in General dialog.
  46.  + If reply packet doesn't have .NDX file, Kivi creates it automatically
  47.    when unpacking replies.
  48.  + Newfiles is removed from the menu (it can be accessed from Bulletins).
  49.  + Added sort cuts for: Rescan work-dir, Clean workdirs, and all the
  50.    sort functions.
  51.  + Sort by date works now correctly.
  52.  + The speed of Sort by date increased drastically. A sort by date which
  53.    took 21 seconds with the old version, took only 2 seconds with the
  54.    new version. I didn't test it further, but it's a _lot_ faster.
  55.  + If the colours you use in Kivi are too high for the screen mode
  56.    you launch Kivi in, default colours are activated.
  57.  + When you select Edit msg, the Edit button is the default one, not
  58.    OK button.
  59.  + Change work-dir bug + some others, which I can't remember
  60.    anymore ;), are fixed.

  64.  + ANSI bulletins are supported. They are displayed with colours
  65.    if your machine handles 16 or more colours.
  66.  + ST-guide online help added. Just press HELP anytime. You
  67.    have to have ST-guide installed as an accessory (or as
  68.    a program if running multitasking OS).
  69.  + Bulletin dialog includes now also Welcome and Logout bulletins
  70.    and Newfiles and BBS News bulletins. BBS news is removed from
  71.    the menu as it is rarely needed (at least I need it rarely).
  72.  + The Bulletin dialog pops up automatically after loading a new
  73.    packet if the packet contained bulletins. This doesn't however
  74.    apply to Welcome and Logout bulletins, as they never contain
  75.    anything new.
  76.  + In the tagline selection window you can define a tagline to use
  77.    by pressing Insert. 
  78.  + In the conference listing window the amount of messages to you in
  79.    the area is shown.
  80.  + Export/to clipboard/print also applies to bulletins now, if a
  81.    bulletin window (one selected from Bulletins dialog or Newfiles)
  82.    is on the top. 
  83.  + A header can be exported along with the message (Kivi asks this
  84.    when selecting Export).
  85.  + The colours Kivi uses can be set from Options - Colours.
  86.  + Due to requests, signatures are entered before taglines.
  87.  + KIVI.BBS file supports three more options: quote header string
  88.   (QuoteHeader), quote format width (QuoteTo) and packer to use
  89.   (Usepacker).
  90.  + Extra spaces from the messages are removed when replying and
  91.    quoting. This feature can be set off.
  92.  + New messages are up-dated correctly when altering the "areas w/
  93.    msg" option.
  94.  + If using format quote, the words are wrapped.
  95.  + BBS Information (File - BBS Information) contains information
  96.    about current BBS packet.
  97.  + In the main windows title there is now BBS's name instead of
  98.    BBS's ID. The BBS ID can be seen from the BBS Information
  99.    dialog.
  100.  + The memory that is reserved by an old packet is released
  101.    before loading a new packet. This way more memory is available
  102.    for the packer.
  103.  + More busy bees, if not under MultiTOS.
  104.  + A couple little bugs removed.
  105.  + Some options have become irrelevant, such as Inverted,
  106.    and are therefore removed.
  107.  + The option file (KIVI.OPT) has changed little: The quote
  108.    header string has a different name, and therefore you have
  109.    to configure it again if you don't use the default string.

  111.  + History file now contains the versions from newest to oldest
  112.    The changes are also separated to make it look clearer,
  113.    and to ease Danny's work at Hensa ;-).

  135.  + Translation files can be assigned to different BBS packets in
  136.    the KIVI.BBS file (more about this in the document, hopefully :-)).
  137.  + In the enter message dialog (when replying or writing a new message)
  138.    you can have presets in the TO: field. This means that you
  139.    can write to KIVI.NAM (or BBS_ID.NAM, where BBS_ID is packet's name)
  140.    often needed names which you can easily pop-up and select by clicking
  141.    To-box. This is feature requires AES 3.30 and is therefore only
  142.    available on Falcons. I might fix this to work on all STs in future.
  143.  + You can optionally set Kivi to pack replies when you quit
  144.    (it is settable from General dialog), if you have this option 
  145.    and Clean workdir option on, work dirs are also cleared when you quit.
  146.  + Message scanning is now much faster than it used to be on STs.
  147.    I tested this with ST and ramdisk: a packet which took 22 seconds
  148.    to scan with Kivi v1.21 took only 2 seconds with Kivi 1.30!
  149.    Surprisingly a Falcon with a HD didn't speed up noticeably.
  150.  + Message printing is added.
  151.  + Small header works now also on ST-medium and some other bug fixes.

  193.    first line should be bulletins name (eg. BLT-1.1) and the second line
  194.    its name and so on.

  198. Added search string. Sort messages (by From, To, Subject), if you're on the
  199. top-level (ie. the conference listing) window Sort messages sorts all areas
  200. beneath and under cursor, if you're on header listing level or viewing a
  201. message it will sort only current areas messages. Taglines (reg. only): Taglines
  202. are obtained from KIVI.TAG or BBSNAME.TAG (BBSNAME is QWK-packet's name) if
  203. present. Taglines can be configured from General dialog, Select = you can select
  204. which tagline will be added, Random = random one, no = no tagline added.
  205. Few little bugs fixed.

  218.    should contain your signature, whatever it is. You can also make BBS
  219.    specific signatures. Just create file which name consists of BBS's name
  220.    (Kivi shows this name in main window's name) + .SIG. If Kivi founds this
  221.    file, it is added instead of "KIVI.SIG".

  225.  + Sometimes (this is rare) Kivi hangs in loop after TOS program running
  226.    in window has returned, now pressing a key in Kivi you can abort.
  227.  + If work path is changed, Kivi will rescan the new one for messages.

  229.    (in fact, it caused serious problems), this is fixed now.
  230.  + When loading packet using Drag & Drop, Kivi didn't check if you had
